If I Had Just Learned This

New Podcast Episode + An Exciting Book 2 Update!

It’s rainy here today in Half Moon Bay—it’s the kind of ideal, cozy weather writers generally crave—the kind that allows us to fully embrace our innate indoor isolationist tendencies with zero guilt. Basically, if there’s a day to couch with a heated blanket and a hot bev—this is it.

Yet, in an ironic twist, I’ve spent the morning feeling the most energetic I have in weeks. That is, in body, not in brain. I keep puttering around the house initiating random home improvement projects I’ve been plotting while I’ve been couch-bound these past few weeks. (If you missed my last post, I’ve been down bad with a mystery bug that’s refused to vacate my body.)

I disclose all of this to say I don’t have the brain power to write a thoughtful essay. BUT—I do have some exciting updates!

Recently, I was invited to talk about the themes of hindsight and nostalgia in my book and reflect on what I’ve learned on my author journey with Mindset Coach Katja Hydock on her podcast If I had Just Learned This.

The podcast exists so Katja and her guests can share hard-earned wisdom and truths that they wished they could have known sooner in hopes that insights shared might help make the listeners path a bit smoother.

In this episode we cover:

  • Why the advice to “follow your passions” isn’t always useful, and what to do instead

  • What childhood can teach us about finding fulfillment in adulthood

  • Permission slips we’d give to our younger selves

  • The two agreements that gave me the courage to finally put a book out into the world

And so much more. Tune in on Spotify!

My Follow Up Novel Has an Official Release Date!

The next book in The Retrospective Series follows Leena as she confronts her love-avoidant past, and is forced to question whether her beliefs have served her, or starved her. It’s sexy, heartbreaking, inspiring, and just as time-trippy as Book 1.

Bonus: it brings back your favorite characters from Annie’s story while introducing new friends you’ll love just as much!

And you won’t have to wait too long! It’s coming April 13, 2027 from She Writes Press.

Stay tuned over the coming months for the official cover and title reveals! And if you’ve finished Annie in Retrospect and you can’t wait to preview Leena’s, you can download the first chapter of Book 2 on my website here.
